Upcycler of the Month--Open Arms

A loyal reader pointed out this group to me the other day. I'm (once again) a bit behind the eight ball. It's getting increasingly difficult to keep up with all the amazing upcycle-y businesses and organizations. I guess that's a good problem!
Open Arms is a small, Austin-based company creating garments from upcycled t-shirts. A good enough idea in and of itself. However, even more wonderfully, their business model is centered around providing work and living wages for refugees from all over the globe.
Their online shop carries fun, flirty skirts, snaz scarfs, a few pillows and even some doggie toys. If you would like to see some of the great wares in person, just visit one of the many shops around town carrying their eco- and people-friendly line. If shopping is not your thing, you can also get involved in other ways by spreading the worddonating t-shirts or your time.
