Nifty Thrifty Gift

I find pretty cool things on a regular basis while thrifting, but a few days after the give away it occurred to me I might have set the bar too high with last month's Nifty Gift. I don't find things that cool all the time. Yet, less than two days later I scored this month's item. I think the blog give away gods are smiling down on me.

I'm not sure as many people will be excited by these vintage swizzle sticks as the giant alphabet cards, but personally, I think they are pretty cool. I really dig pre-collected collections and it fits perfectly into my "Enough of anything is art" theory. There aren't as many obvious uses for these gems, but there is at least some great collage or assemblage potential. If nothing else, these could be the hit of that upcoming retro cocktail party you are planning.

There are around 40 of them all together. Most are in sets of two, three or four. The snaz Playboy bunny is the only solo piece. If you're interested in owning these plastic pieces from the past, just leave a comment here and let me know how you plan to use them. I'll get my crack team of name pickers on the tasking task of choosing the winner in a few days.

Holli Brown Mosaics thinks they would be rockin cool in sets of groups in succulent plantings. like little markers. Hey I want to go to that bar in florida have you been? ha ha my plants talk to each other, I don't! ok my comment!

I'd love to twist them in my hair sticking out of a messy ponytail or loose bun!

I would saw the 'sculptures' of the sticks, sand them and make a little hole in them: they would do very well as charms for my necklaces and bracelets!

Oh wow! If I don't just use them to stir drinks with, as I already have a small swizzle stick collection going, I think these would be really cool to pop in my hair, make plant labels with or to use as cute party favors at my next small gathering.

Now you've got me thinking. Should I give swizzle sticks as favors at my wedding instead of koozies?

Emily B, I LOVE the idea of swizzle sticks as wedding favors!

Man, I love some of the ideas already given, especially for the twisted hairdoo!

But I think I would make them into pen-toppers. As a teacher, my supplies are constantly walking away from my desk, but I've found that the crazier the pen, the more likely it is to stay put!
