Austin is crazy right now. The legislature is in session AND South by Southwest is town. Traffic is insane and the hipster quotient is somewhere around 5000x, but I'm not complaining. I kinda like that our town is alway busy and is host to a range of really amazing gatherings. Plus, in my day-to-day life, I'm hardly affected by any of the hubbub.
That said, I will be braving a bit of the chaos during the middle of the week. On Wednesday I'll be trying to figure out where to park long enough to unload my show stuff to get set up at Caffé Medici--which is right smack dab in the middle of The Drag. (2222B Guadalupe) Not an easy feat on an any day of the year, but chould prove to be nearly impossible during South-By. Assuming the parking fairy is in my corner that day, I'll be set up from 10 to 5 alongside a nice mix of other area Etsy artists:
On Thursday the 17th I'll be down on 5th and Lamar along with a group of mystery artists and a couple of bands. We'll be outside, around the corner from Touch of Sass and directly across 5th from West Elm from 1 to 7pm. Be there around 5:30 or 6 to catch the sidewalk fashion show featuring clothing from Buy Definition, shoes from Stella Says Go, accessories from Touch of Sass and hair from Jackson-Ruiz. From 7-8pm, all of the area stores will be open with specialty cocktails and discounts for further shopping. If you're in the area, be sure to stop by and say hi!
