Upcycler of the Month: Gülnur Özdağlar

As much as I love to hate plastic, some really fabulous things can be accomplished with the damned stuff. Artist and designer Gülnur Özdağlar’s work, tertium non data,  is currently at the top of my plastic product fabulosity list.

With nothing more than what you see here,
she transforms lowly PET water bottles into diaphanous objects d'art. Visit her beautiful site to see how she “substitutes with labour and artistic value the characteristics that the material loses during transformation.”

I might just have to institute an Upcycler of the Year category.

I laughed reading your post. I have the same "love to hate" and love to see exceptions to the rule. I just wrote a similar article on pressboard.
If you know anyone reusing this stuff, please do tell!

Gulnur rocks! She's transforming one of our most problematic plastic pollutants: water bottles!
An amazing creative solution to a nasty environmental problem: this is the changes we need these days.
I personally elected Gulnur as my 2010 best recycling artist by far and purchased a few pieces of her work and let me say this: her work is AS beautiful (if not more) as the pictures on her site!
I am proud to wear her work and say that I encouraged a futuristic artist as she.
