Austin Fashion Week

Those of you who know me well are probably pretty surprised to see anything on this site even remotely related to the topic of fashion. Yeah, I make jewelry, but I don't make fashion jewelry. I make whatever seems like a good idea at the time. Sometimes other people like it enough to buy and wear it, but I'm pretty sure that does not elevate it to the level of fashion.

You may be wondering then, why I am participating in Austin Fashion Week. Well, frankly, I am wondering more about that every day. When I applied months ago I was thinking of the event as an opportunity to get a bit of exposure for my work in some new places. What I didn't realize was I'd be required to participate in the various events. Fashion events. Places where people think about oh, I don't know, fashion. Hairstyles. Makeup. It's hard to come up with topics I know less about. I was pretty stressed about it for a while. So stressed I even looked online for clothing and came across this pretty cool site, Wear Today Gone Tomorrow. After realizing the whole thing was making me a bit crazy, I decided to just wear one of the two dresses I own and call it a day.

I have no idea what I'll be wearing to my show at Vanity Salon, but I do know there will be fashionable people there. Specifically lovely models wearing Malissa Long's beautiful garments. You'll also get a chance to see my jewelry on the ladies as well. I was at the salon yesterday to set up some work that will be on display through the month of August. I will have all my work displayed on Wednesday the 18th from 4 to 7pm. Hope you can make it by.

There's lots of buzz about AFW and over 100 different events planned. Be sure to check out the full schedule so you don't miss something fun.

I think you should prepare by watching a lot of Project Runway.
