This is our 5th or 6th year to join our friends for their opening day tradition. They maintain it is the best day of the fair owing to the freshness of the grease. We had fun, which of course means that we spent too much money. I kinda wonder what the per hour cost works out to be. Probably not a good idea to do that math. Some highlights:
The swan boats are classics. (Remember--never stand in the boats.) There is also the ugly duckling version, but our family is all swans. This one has a pronounce list to the left. Guess it's defective.
My favorite--the bird show. This Eurasian eagle owl flew about 6 inches above our heads during the program.
If you haven't been to the Texas State Fair you might not know that one of the largest 'exhibits' is the auto show. Housed in at least two huge pavilions, most of the major manufacturers show off their latest models--both cars and babes. Of all the cars on display, none can hold a candle to this gem. I can't tell if it's a golf cart mod, or if someone somewhere sold these little beauts at some point. All I know is this is the best car on the fair grounds.
I did say the bird show is my favorite, but these foot massage stations run a pretty close second. It's unbelievable how much better your feet and legs can feel after just 2 minutes of vigorous vibration. I don't care how ugly they are, one day I will own one of these. . .
