April Show-ers

Okay, this is the point where I start kicking myself for signing up for three shows over the course of three consecutive weekends. You totally know that 'it sounded good at the time' feeling. So here I am, one week out and not much to 'show' for it in the way of preparedness.

Austin Handmade Market
Saturday, April 11, Noon to 6pm, 507 W. Mary @ S. 1st
If you're in Austin I encourage you to come out next weekend for the Austin Handmade Market. This will be the second in what is billed as a burgeoning series. I would tell you more about what to expect, but so far the market organizers have chosen to keep the details somewhat shrouded. So, if you're inclined to local indie arts and jazzed by the unknown, this event is for you.

The Lone Star Ladies Present: Shop Austin

Saturday, April 18, 11am to 5pm, 1607 San Jacinto
Let me say up front that these ladies have done a TON of work both organizing and promoting this show. I can not fault them for any of that. However, I'm pretty sure a significant percentage of my life has now been spent just typing the title of the show. It is a mouthful. Over the last few weeks I've resorted to just 'Shop Austin' so I could move on already. All joking aside, the Lone Star Ladies look to be pulling together a top-notch event. Not only will there be lots of great local art and design, but a Beauty Bar, Cafe and, wait for it, YES, a Photo Booth! Gather up a few friends and come out for a fun afternoon. You'll be able to:
  1. find great gifts for Mother's Day, Graduation and probably even Father's day,
  2. have a D-doublicious cupcake from Hey, Cupcake! and
  3. top off the afternoon by stuffing everyone in for the ever-popular 'too-many people in the photo booth' photo.
TLSLP:SA is a ticketed event, so get yours early. Friends of adaptive reUse can purchase advance tickets at a discount--just email me for the top-secret link.

Funky Finds Spring Fling
Saturday, April 25, 10am to 6pm, Will Rogers Memorial Center
Perusing the line up of vendors for this show makes me want to cancel my vendor status and just wander the isles as a customer. With over 100 artists and designers it promises to be filled with interesting wares. Those of you out there with Dallas/Ft. Worth contacts, please be sure to pass along the info. My reach outside of my little Austin bubble is limited, so I need all the help the web-world can dish up.

I'll also be doing (vending? selling at? showing? what is the right art show verb?) a show in mid-May in Dallas. I'll post more about that later.

I hope to see many of you out and about. If you do make it to a show please be sure to stop by my booth. Mention this post to get a laugh out of the shocked look on my face--oh, and 10% off your purchase.
